American Opportunity Credit Helps Employees Gain 4 Year Degrees

Does your organization have employees in their first 4 years of college? The American Opportunity Credit is available to help college students and their families pay for the first 4 years of college. Taxpayers can receive up to $2500 in tax credit per year per student.

• Qualifying expenses include tuition, related fees, books and other required course materials.

• Students, taxpayers and educational institutions must qualify to be eligible for the credit. Penalties for taking the credit when ineligible include disqualification in future years.

• American Opportunity Credit is 40% refundable, so even taxpayers who owe no tax can receive up to a $1000 tax refund when they qualify for American Opportunity Credit.
