Families are in an accelerating climate when it comes to paying for education expenses. Washington State cut tuition prices instead of raising them in a 2015 law, which further limits tuition hikes by tying them to growth in state average wages. Next year, UW in-state undergrad tuition will increase, but only a small percentage. Tax Cuts and Jobs Act expands tax advantages of 529 plans to K-12, allowing families greater access to distribute funds to younger students.
