Opinion: Starbucks Reserve Roasteries Highend Coffee $12/cup

Article by Sound Accounting & Technology LLC. Howard Schultz upcoming role with Starbucks Roasteries could mean high-end coffee at $12 per cup. To put that in budget perspective, that’s more than $2 above the per person serving price of a Blue Apron meal. According to the marketing clips we’ve viewed via YouTube the shops will offer an upscale experience complete with a view of the syphon process brewing system. Modeled after the microbrewery, but with coffee. Here in Seattle, it seems likely we can anticipate other adult elixirs will be added to the mix in short order, if not by Starbucks, by competitive retailers looking to differentiate the model. Margins on beverages and especially adult beverages are strong incentive to add these in as high a proportion as legally allowed. Schultz long standing influence at Starbucks as a social values based company may keep the Starbucks Roasteries cup more family friendly. Social values friendly up-scale coffee bars could even translate to well needed date night luxury for couples.
