Over the Thanksgiving weekend, shoppers went for the sales. Number of shoppers buying over the 2016 holiday weekend up 3 million vs. 2015 while the average total spent by each shopper dropped a little over $10. Going for the sales may have driven the win for both retailers and consumers this year. According to National Retail Federation and Prosper Insights & Analytics more than 36% of shoppers said 100% of their purchases were on sale. See the chart below:
