Companies may be able to receive extensions on filing State of WA excise tax returns during COVID-19 pandemic. If a request is granted, the business will be allowed to delay reporting and paying its tax liability. A deposit may be required by DOR in some cases if the extension is more than 30 days. WA State DOR also has authority to waive penalties for making a late payment in limited circumstances, including a one-time, 24 month late payment penalty waiver if the business has not owed a late payment penalty in the last 24 months.
